SWPPP Services in California

Site-specific SWPPP preparation, QSP inspections, SMARTS reporting, and erosion control for construction and industrial sites across California.
FULL-SERVICE SWPPP COMPLIANCE

What Is a SWPPP & Why It Matters

If your construction or industrial site discharges stormwater, California law requires a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) — a site-specific plan that controls how sediment, chemicals, and debris leave your site. It is mandatory for construction projects disturbing one acre or more (Construction General Permit) and for many industrial facilities (Industrial General Permit).

California Compliance Environmental’s licensed QSDs, QSPs, and QISPs handle the entire SWPPP process — writing the plan, filing it through SMARTS, running inspections and sampling, and keeping it current — so your project stays inspection-ready and you avoid fines of up to $10,000 per day.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan is a site-specific document required by California’s Construction and Industrial General Permits. It identifies potential pollution sources at your site and the Best Management Practices used to keep sediment, chemicals, and debris out of storm drains and waterways.

Construction projects that disturb one acre or more of soil (under the Construction General Permit) and qualifying industrial facilities that discharge stormwater (under the Industrial General Permit). A SWPPP may also be required as a condition of a local permit or contract.

A Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) determines your site’s risk level and writes the SWPPP. A Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) implements it in the field — inspections, sampling, and SMARTS reporting. Most construction projects need both, and our team provides both.

SMARTS (Stormwater Multiple Application and Report Tracking System) is California’s online system for filing permit registration documents, the SWPPP, inspection records, and reports. We prepare and submit your SMARTS filings for you.

It depends on your site’s size, Risk Level, and how long the project runs — planning, inspections, sampling, and reporting all factor in. We provide an up-front budget consultation so you know the full scope before work begins.

Before you begin soil-disturbing activities. Permit coverage and an approved SWPPP must be in place prior to construction start, so it is best to engage a QSD early in your project schedule.
